Say it with Flowers

“Say it with Flowers” is a promotional expression the retail floral industry had used for years. But, it is so very true. On every occasion, flowers work to express feelings that are sometimes easy and sometimes very hard to share. Working with the public and sharing in celebrations of every type is a blessing. It is also a blessing to share when they are crying and sad. A florist is there for it all.

I can’t count how many times tears have welled up during a sympathy consultation. Some of the most heartbreaking stories have honored me to design and deliver flowers. The flowers somehow fill spaces with love. They fill the void with beauty and fragrance when family and friends can’t be present. They convey so many feelings all wrapped within their beautiful faces.

Oh, and the happy occasions what a joy! The first grandbaby, celebrating a monumental birthday, and of course my fave weddings. All the time working with each individual to express just how they envision their floral design or event. Becoming a trusted member of their flower family.

Working with the public as we all know has challenges. What it has taught me is invaluable. Kindness, patience, and professionalism. Each client has a story. Some don’t share and others take a moment to share a glimpse into their world. The stories, sadness, and triumphs are things I will forever treasure.

So, in the journey of a lifelong florist “Say it with Flowers” solicits so many memories sweet and sad. Something I would not trade for any other career.
